Our social contribution program
We bring security to those who need it. Part or all of the cost can be met through social contribution.
We provide SAFE SQUARE services to selected organizations that need security support but lack the budget. Within an agreed scope, part or all of the cost can be met through social contribution: pro bono work, donations or sharing knowledge.

Who it is for
The organizations that most need security often have the least budget for it. Where budget is the barrier, there is another way to take part.
- Nonprofits and public-interest groups
Organizations handling donor information and program data on a limited security budget. We help keep a cyberattack from stopping their work.
- Schools and communities
Educational institutions and developer or security communities. Training and exercises are available alongside the services.
- Early-stage startups and small teams
Teams running a product or service without dedicated security staff. A Security Health Check can be a practical place to start.
The same standard of service, a different way of meeting the cost
The service follows the same standard as any other engagement. What differs is that we agree in advance on the scope of support and a contribution participants can realistically carry out.
Application and consultation
Write to us through ‘Pay It Forward application’ on the Contact page. We discuss your situation, the security support you need and a contribution that fits your expertise and capacity, then decide whether and how far we can support you.
Agreeing the contribution
We confirm the service scope, the contribution and a realistic period for completing it in writing.
Delivering the service
We carry out the security work to the same standard as for any paying client.
Contributing and sharing
You carry out the agreed contribution within the agreed period and share the outcome where appropriate.
What counts as a contribution
There is no fixed format. We decide on a suitable contribution together, based on your expertise, circumstances and what you can realistically do.
- Pro bono work
Using your own expertise, such as development, design, translation or teaching, to help those who need it.
- Donation
A donation corresponding to the value of the service, to an agreed charity or foundation.
- Knowledge sharing
Open-source contributions, publishing security cases and lessons, community talks and mentoring.
- Volunteering and passing it on
Volunteering locally or with an organization, or passing the help you received on to another organization.
The type, scale and completion criteria of the contribution are agreed during consultation. Eligibility and the number of participants may be adjusted according to SAFE SQUARE's capacity to deliver services.
The organizations we protect go on to protect someone else.
The capability we have built with people and AI reaches places that need it, and one engagement leads to pro bono work, a donation or shared knowledge that supports another organization or community in turn.
